#MarkHouchinStrong Autism Ride Promotes Autism Awareness and Fundraises over $1,800

    [ssba]

Valarie McTigue, the Houchin family and the VFW Post 9383 came together on September 22, 2019 to celebrate the life of their beloved friend and father, Mark Houchin. McTigue organized an Autism Ride in West Lafayette that gave back to children diagnosed with autism. Below is the letter she wrote our foundation about this cause that is so close to her heart.

On August 10, 2017, the life of my father, Mark Houchin, was unexpectedly and tragically taken from us. To honor his memory, our family and community came together to hose an annual motorcycle ride, with the intention of donating the proceeds to causes that Mark felt very strongly about.

This year, we have focused on the Cornerstone Autism Foundation because Mark’s granddaughter was diagnosed at age two with autism. She currently attends Cornerstone Autism Center in West Lafayette, IN. They have helped her in leaps and bounds. We heard about the amazing things that Cornerstone does for the communities and parents affected by autism.

I personally want to thank those in your foundation and centers for all of the compassion, love and time they put into helping children and families. My family and community would like to donate $1,839.00 in honor of my father, Mark Houchin.” – Valarie McTigue

We believe this is such a beautiful way to remember her father and are honored by your support of our foundation’s mission. If you want to learn more about what the Cornerstone Autism Foundation is, read our mission here.
