    2018 Make It Happen 5k Raises $1,500

    [ssba]

The Cornerstone Autism Foundation held its annual Make It Happen David Ide Memorial 5k on September 15, 2018. The day was the perfect day for a run with mild weather and the sun shining bright. We had 150 registrants this year. Some of the participants included families that Cornerstone Autism Center has served.

Excitement was in the air as runners participated in a Pound warm-up led by Parkwest Fitness. After everyone was warmed-up, there was a moment of silence and a balloon release in memory of Cornerstone Autism Foundation’s Co-Founder David Ide. After the singing of the national anthem, which was led by two of Cornerstone’s very own clients and ABA Therapist Rachel Wallace, the runners took their places at the start line. As the countdown began and the horn sounded off, cheers could be heard in the parking lot as runners began their journey onto the course. It wasn’t long before the first group of runners could be seen making their final leg back to the finish line. When each runner made his or her way across the finish line, they received a custom designed race medal to show off their achievement.

The day continued on joyfully as runners were able to enjoy a wonderful meal of grilled hot dogs, compliments of Sonic Drive-In. Little ones were able to participate in the Kids Fun Run, which took place immediately after the main race. The children were beaming from ear to ear as they ran their hardest to cross the finish line.

We want to thank our 2018 Sponsors who helped make this event possible:

The Make It Happen David Ide Memorial 5k is an important piece of the Cornerstone Autism Foundation. This event is a chance to bring autism awareness and to raise money for foundation that gives back to the community.
