2nd Annual Greenwood and West Lafayette Fire Department Fundraisers

    [ssba]

Last year was the first t-shirt fundraiser, organized by West Lafayette Fire Chief Tim Heath and his team. This year, the Greenwood Fire Department decided to join the cause for Autism Awareness Month in April.

The West Lafayette Fire Department raised $650 for the foundation, while the Greenwood Fire Department raised $250. The red shirts the fire fighters wore also raised awareness in the community, with others asking what the shirts symbolized.

In May, the fire departments visited the West Lafayette and Greenwood Polk centers to present the check to the foundation and meet the kids at Cornerstone. They were also given the opportunity to tour the center.

“As soon as they see the fire trucks pull around they’re so excited to come out and meet the firefighters, climb in the trucks, and experience it hands on,” said Clinical Director and BCBA Alicia Pearson. “It’s not an opportunity that all of our individuals get on a daily basis so it definitely means a lot to us.”

Their kindness and generosity is noticed and appreciated by all of us at Cornerstone. We are grateful for this fundraiser and cannot wait to continue to raise awareness with our local fire departments next year!
